Apartment:
The apartment is a studio with a double bed and a pull-out sofa. For a reservation of two people we will prepare only the double bed. In case you also want to use the sofa bed, please let us know ahead and will prepare both beds. Especially in high season we may not be able to provide extra sheets last minute.
Arrival:
We will meet you in person for the handover of the keys and show you around the apartment, tell you what you need to know. So we kindly as you to let us know, what time you expect to arrive. In case of a delay, please let us know, so we can rearrange our schedule accordingly.
Beach towels:
Please do not use the provided towels for the beach. We can provide beach towels at a cleaning fee of € 5 (for two towels). Must be requested in advance.
Coffee:
You will find a traditional Italian coffeemaker, the legendary MOKA at the apartment. A piece of Italian culture and present in every household. We have chosen this coffeemaker instead of a modern, electric machine for a number of reasons. First of all, because the coffee is much better and nothing beats the bubbling sound when the coffee comes out. And then it is also an ecological decision as there is no aluminum or plastic waste from the capsules. Very important: the Moka is cleaned only with water, NO SOAP! The soap ruins the taste. In case you have never used a Moka, here is how it works:

Departure:
If not otherwise agreed, check-out time is 10AM. Before you leave we kindly ask you to:
- bring out garbage according to the calendar (see garbage)
- close all windows/balcony doors
- switch off Air condition and lights
- leave the keys on the table and pull the door
- send us a message
Electricity:
VERY IMPORTANT: If the air condition is on, do not use other high voltage devices (washing machine or hair dryer) at the same time. Italian households have a limit of 3KW, if you exceed, electricity will go off. If you forget about and the power goes off, here is what to do: switch of some of the devices and flip the main electricity switch.
Garbage:
Siracusa has lately introduced a new waste management system which still has its hiccups but we hope this will be solved soon. It is in fact, a bit complicated and we need your cooperation/help with this. But: RECYCLING IS MANDATORY! Please use the provided containers and place them outside on the street on the indicated day before 5AM or the evening beofre after 9PM.
Organic waste (umido) MONDAY - WEDNESDAY - FRIDAY – please use the provided bags
Residual waste (indifferenziata) - THURSDAY
Glass (vetro) - SATURDAY
Paper/cartons/tetra packs (carta) - SATURDAY
For PLASTIC/METALS (tins) - TUESDAY - there is no container, but the YELLOW (or transparent) bags.
In case you leave on other days, we will take care of the garbage. But please help as best as you can.
House rules:
We do not have many house rules. We trust our guests behave at our home as they wish their guests would at their home!
- Please use resources responsibly! Turn off the air condition when you are not in the apartment. Close the windows, when the air condition is switched on. Electricity costs are very high in Italy, so please be fair.
- Do not smoke in the apartment
- Bring the chair cushions inside when you don’t use them to keep them clean (rain, pigeons!)
- Leave the kitchen and fridge clean and the wash the dishes before you leave
- Recycle!
- Bring out the garbage before you leave.
- Always close windows and doors before you leave. Burglaries happen rarely, but an open window is an invitation for thieves!
We provide linen and towels for your stay. If you want to change them during your stay, let us know (extra charge of € 10 for towels and sheets). Please note, that linen and towels are washed in a professional industrial laundry. So if you should find stains on them, these are “clean” stains. If you need a launderette for your own laundry: LaundryXpress, Via Dei Santi Coronati, 36/38 (self service)

Tap water:
If you want to reduce plastic garbage (and safe money), there is a water dispenser in Vicolo IV alla Giudecca: still and sparkling water at € 0,06 per litre. You have to bring your own bottle or container.
